Activity description: During the summer of 2023, I led the “Urban Green Initiative,” which focused on underutilized areas of our city that had been affected by urban development and industrialization. Our two-pronged objectives were to rid these places of accumulated trash and rehabilitate them into verdant public parks by planting native plants. Through the efforts of committed volunteers, we were able to turn areas of urban decay into areas of peace and greenery. This project restored the community’s sense of pride and togetherness while also improving the surrounding scenery. I learned from the initiative how much the combined efforts of people can accomplish and the enduring legacy they can leave on urban heritage.
