Work Experience
I have been employed at various locations since I was 16 years old. My parents always discouraged me from getting a job because they felt that it would cause my grades to slip and that it was unnecessary since they were able to give me the money I needed. I am extremely grateful for my parents, but I feel that since I’m young and have a lot of free time, I should be working so that I can foot my own expenses. Having a job has most definitely made me value money and my time and has dramatically improved my work ethic. My first job was as a camp counselor at a pool camp over the summer. Throughout high school, I worked at my town’s local Dunkin Donuts, which influenced me to pursue a career in business. I was drawn to the what, why, and how of how people spent their money. During summers in college, I have balanced marketing internships, babysitting, and retail jobs. During my marketing internship, I developed tailored marketing strategies to encourage repeat customers for an experiential marketing company that specializes in team building scavenger hunts. I also communicated with 50 former clients via phone and emails to generate business, resulting in 35% repeat engagements.
