The two years I served my country as a solider in the Korean army are my proudest achievements and are very precious to me.  In the military, I learned how to improve my interpersonal skills with my colleagues.  As being a Korean male, I was mandated to join the Korean army.  From the first day, I tried to do my best in the army, and strove to improve my interpersonal skills.  At the time it was very difficult for me to open up to new people.  It was awkward for me at first getting to know people, I did not know where to start or how to talk to strangers. However, thanks to the army, I was able to communicate with new soldiers, and form a precious bond which is needed in the volatile atmosphere of the Korean military world.   The threat of war is always present.  So, I studied many books about communication and effective speaking, and requested assistance from my seniors in order to improve my interpersonal skills.  In time, I was no longer having problems with new soldiers and even more remarkable, men who served under my command began to respect my opinions and followed my directions. Therefore, my time in the army really was very significant.  It allowed me to develop my ability to effectively communicate with people.
