Business Analyst

PCS Retirement located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is one of the country’s leading independent and conflict free retirement solution providers. PCS offers development tools for financial advisors and a data-driven recordkeeping technology that supports all types of retirement plans such as 401(k), 403(b), 457, IRA, etc. I had the opportunity to intern in PCS’ IT department as one of the youngest Business Analysts hired from Temple University. As a Business Analyst I was required to provide technical and development support to employees within different departments of the company. I also assisted with project and ticket tracking via Salesforce and managed bug fixes and work requests while presenting solutions to developers to implement changes.

As a Business Analyst at PCS my primary job was to assist a full time BA with her on-going projects and close any tickets assigned to her on Salesforce. One project that was under my name enabled me to serve as a team lead for analysis and distribution of Schwab Leads (Charles Schwab) to the entire sales team via Salesforce and The Advisor Lab. During that project I learned the importance of tracking my progress. I was advised to document how far the project was coming along and what steps I had taken to complete this project. I also learned how to properly use Salesforce as a project and ticket tracking agent and how important this CRM is to the entire company, especially to the IT Department and its projects. Before taking courses at Temple University on basic coding, this project required me to work with developers and learn to understand the code used. I also worked on a few tickets at PCS that required SQL. I strongly believe that what I learned in the three months at PCS Retirement relates to my major.  This is because prior to taking any MIS courses I began learning material such as the use of Salesforce, coding, and simple steps to project management. This material was then seen in courses such as Information Systems in Organizations, Data-Centric Application and Data Analytics, and User Experience Design, respectively.
