Description

1.   Project Description

Companies lose money from the mismanagement of software licenses for many reasons, including penalties due to breach of vendor contracts or waste due to underuse. Companies lack the proper tools to track the utilization and management of software licenses. This project will enable an organization to improve the software license management process by distributing, tracking, and retrieving software licenses and notifying managers of improper usage. We will create a platform that monitors, provisions, and manages software licenses across an enterprise. In addition, our consultants will offer an optional extra service of executing quarterly audits of an organization’s software licensing process or a review of its software license agreements. Our software will allow an organization to eliminate waste and costs associated with the management of software licenses.

2.   Project Scope

We will develop a desktop application that displays the functionality of our software license management system in a simple user interface. Our application will monitor the usage of software licenses. The application will list all licenses that a company has purchased and that the company’s devices are running. The application will have the ability to add or remove licenses from a company device. The application will list the licenses being used by each department. We will develop functionality that allows employees or departments to request a certain number of licenses for software that they need to use. It will distribute the software licenses to certified users or retrieve them from uncertified users. The capabilities of our application will end when including software not related to license management.
