Facilitated Zoom Call
I assisted my aunt by facilitating a Zoom video conference so she could talk to her home care nurse on April 25th. My aunt couldn’t reconcile the fact that Zoom was intended for real-time interaction and that the call must be conducted at a specified time. I installed the Zoom application on her desktop and thoroughly walked her through the step-by-step procedure of conducting a Zoom call if she ever needs to do one again without me. This includes clicking the link at the scheduled time, enabling audio/video settings, conducting and ending the call. I recognized the prevalence of leveraging technology and how web conferences can improve access to healthcare in the comfort of one’s own home. Virtual video calls serve as a convenient and beneficial alternative, especially for those who face mobility or transportation difficulties getting to a physician’s office.
