Completed part-time work at Quail Financial Solutions, providing financial services specializing in equipment financing and leasing, vendor program development and management, as well as financial consulting that includes establishing new or better banking relationships. Quail Financial Solutions is a small financial solutions firm with employees all over the country which I worked fully remote as an Information Technology Consultant with a cross-divisional team.
In this part-time position, I was tasked with transforming a return on investment calculator from a tool with static inputs to one that can be updated with new rates in real-time. We used API’s to help connect the calculator to a database that can be updated to connect with customer needs and specific constraints. We created eight new calculators, four tiers for return on investment calculators and four tiers for financing calculators, that are easy and understandable for non-technical employees to update to be distributed to high-profile clients with their specific needs.
In this experience I was able to connect real-world applications of all of my coursework as an Management Information Systems student. I learned how to work with clients and non-IT teammates to help create valuable digital products. I learned how use my technical awareness to satisfy client’s specific needs based on affordances and constraints, such as web hosting availability and user’s technical ability. I was able to connect my approach to completing these calculators with my course work at Fox. I was able to connect what I have learned in JavaScript, Html, CSS, and API’s with all of the course work in Digital Systems, Web Application Development, Cloud Computing, and Web Service Programming. I was also able to connect my course work with database analytics that I learned in Data and Analytics. Finally, I approached the work utilizing the Agile framework that I learned in Lead Global Digital Products.
