Work Experience

A Maple Manor swim meet

I joined the workforce when i was 14.

I began working for Maple Manor Swim Club as a food stand worker in June of 2007. I worked as a food stand worker for two summers, and then began working as a lifeguard in June of 2009. In 2012, I became the head guard, which was positioned above regular guards to train and supervise the other workers. Head guards are also tasked with taking pool chemicals, cleaning the pools, and coming in on off days when called in to cover, or to do labor around the club.

This past summer, I was employed as an Assistant Manager. During which I provided customer service to our 1000 members including suggestions, queries, event planning, and complaints. I also trained and managed our 50 employees during open hours. I learned more advanced pool maintenance, including balancing chemicals, cleaning the pumps, and replacing out-of-service pipes. Occasionally I gave tours of the premises, as well as executing aspects of payroll collection.

In addition to Maple Manor, I began working at the Ambler Area YMCA in March of 2011 as a lifeguard. In June of 2012 I was promoted to senior guard. At the YMCA, i was tasked with not only life guarding the pools, but extensive cleaning of the premises, as well as occasionally shifting to different branches of the company to pick up slack when needed.

On top of  life guarding both Maple Manor Swim Club and the Ambler YMCA, during both the summer of 2012 and 2013  I was an assistant coach for Maple Manor’s swim team. On average, between guarding at both Maple Manor and the YMCA, as well as coaching, I worked an excess of 9 hours a day.

Outside of pool work, I also did freelance work writing columns for a site titled Driphter.com in 2011, which specialized in personalized Blackberry software kits. I helped advise in its design and wrote articles about technological news.

I continue to work at both Maple Manor and the Ambler Area YMCA.

Unfortunately, Driphter.com died a short time ago, along with popular interest in Blackberrys.
