Skilladelphia
I participated and am still working with Skilladelphia, an organization that works with girls ages 6-12 in Philadelphia. Skilladelphia focuses on helping young girls grow through basketball, teamwork, and life skills. The program is sponsored and run by Michael Casey (from whom the note attached is from) to support youth development in the community. My role was to help coach younger girls by teaching them basketball skills like dribbling, passing, and teamwork. I also helped them with problem-solving, communication, and confidence, both on and off the court. Through this experience, I learned how to be a leader, how to be patient, and how to communicate clearly with others. This activity helped me understand the importance of giving back to my community and being a positive role model for younger students.
