Data Intern at The Dwight D Boutique Hotel
In the fall of 2015 I interned at The Dwight D, it is a boutique hotel located in the Rittenhouse area of downtown Philadelphia. They opened in the fall of 2014 and are now in their second year of business. As an intern I helped organize large amounts of customer data into spreadsheets and analyze them. I did this by using Excel to contort the data into useful segments. I learned how to use Excel to analyze data in 3502, some skills used include pivot tables. This class had a lot of different principles that helped me in my internship, the class taught me how to analyze data and make use of it.
The MIS department at Temple has taught me so much that I applied during my internship. Without 3501 I would not know how to write my bosses concise, easy to read memos or emails. I used different tactics taught in my classes to find the best way to analyze the data and make it useful to the hotel. I helped start a Google Ad words campaign using keywords found in customer reviews that I entered into the spreadsheets. I learned how to be a useful involved member of a small team working at a small business.
