Presentation: Causes of the Decline in Mortality Improvement Rates
I used Tableau to create a visualization of the recent decline in the mortality improvement rate. With data from The Society of Actuaries (SOA), The Human Mortality Database, and The Center for Disease Control (CDC), I was able to connect the recent rise in mortality rates to the opioid epidemic due to the significant increase in opioid-related deaths yet a negligible difference in other causes of death.
