Weekly Project Updates

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Week of December 11th, 2017

We managed to get a lot of help from Cindy and Tony with the presentation flow, data models and system architecture. All documentation has been complete, sent to Tony and we are all ready for the final presentation!

Week of December 4th, 2017

Prototyping has been completed. But we can’t sit back and relax just yet. We’re currently working on the flow of the presentation and establishing the data models and system architecture involved in this entire reservation process. It is proving to be a little challenging so we aim to get assistance from Tony (Professor) and Cindy (CIO of Temple).

Week of November 27th, 2017

Now that we’re back from thanksgiving week, we’ve started to work more on completing the prototype. We have created the landing pages for each resource (that can be reserved). Now all there is left to do is put in a reservation confirmation page and the algorithm to make sure one cannot reserve a resource at the same time as someone or if he/she has missed 3 reservations or more. Also, we have started to put together a format for the presentation slides we will be using for the dress rehearsal next week, we should have a more concrete set of slides and prototype by the end of the week on Sunday.

Week of November 20th, 2017

Its Thanksgiving week! Despite that, we’ve found some time to make additions to the kind of documents we have. As recommended by Tony Messina, we have put up a swim-lane document that outlines the User Experience process of a typical user (students or faculty members). We have also put up a preliminary budget document to outline the monthly maintenance and one time costs for the this project. Development of the prototype has slowed, mainly because of the amount of food that we’ve had this week, but is heading toward completion very soon.

Week of November 13rd, 2017

The reservation menu has been created with appropriate icons for the main resources; Computers, Rooms, Tutors and Writing Center Assistants. Landing pages for each of these resources are yet to be created but its in the works. We have looked into Open Table and will be using their styling to stylize and beautify the App. We met with Cindy to go through our documents like charter and status report and get her opinions. We have made updates to the status report as we have made progress in prototyping. We also met with Gene, director of Computer Services at the Tech Center and he provided us a more robust list of computers available all around Temple to use. He also recommended providing a filter function so that students can filter out exactly what softwares/applications they are looking for in Temple computers. Anthony Messina also recommended us to look into presentation ideas from now itself so as to stay prepared. Further documentation like Swimlane and Finance Models (for Cost Budgeting) have been suggested for a better understanding of the process.

Week of November 6th, 2017

We have completed the login page of the mobile App with functioning login credentials along with a incorrect password alert. We have yet to classify and finalize all Temple resources before creating the resources reservation page. We managed to meet with Cindy, our mentor. She recommended us to look into an App called “Open Table” which has a similar reservation plan and idea. We have also schedule a follow up meeting with her next week as well as with Gene, director of Computer Services at the Tech Center. Lastly, we also created a status report to show where we stand with prototyping, and big picture functions like analysis, design and testing.

Week of October 30th, 2017

Prototyping has begun, using Justinmind. We have decided to go in with the Cherry & White colors for the color combo for the App. We have also gotten in touch with our Mentor Cindy, CIO of Temple and are on schedule to meet next week for her opinions and input.

Week of October 23rd, 2017

Revisions have been made to the project charter to make sure objectives are more reasonable and attainable. Research has been conducted to understand the kind of resources Temple has apart from our circle (Fox, Tuttleman and Tech Center).

Week of October 16th, 2017

The idea for a project has been decided – TUStudy, an Android & IOS-Compatible mobile App that allows Temple students and faculty to not only view the kind of resources available for reservation but also provides them a live view of available reservations, which can especially save time. Project Charter has been developed and sent to Anthony Messina for revision.
