Independence Blue Cross
Business Development & Innovation Intern
Between October and May of my junior year of college I interned with Independence Blue Cross (IBX), in center city Philadelphia. The first department I interned in was Business development & Innovation. As one of the largest health insurance providers in Pennsylvania IBX was always looking to invest in different start ups to help innovate the healthcare industry. One of my duties research different start ups in the Philadelphia area. I also assisted in Innovation sessions where different department from the company would come in to brain storm creative ideas figure solutions to problems and learn ideas and techniques to be innovated in their every day work.
Market Research Intern
After I was finish up my internship in Business Development & Innovation I had the opportunity to intern with Market Research. It was my duty to do the preliminary research to assist the market research team for their company wide projects. I would have to make presentation to present my finding to the department. During my time in the market research department I leaned valuable research and communication skills.
Temple University
Orientation Leader – Student Coordinator
During the summer of 2013, I had the opportunity to work for Temple University as an Orientation Leader (Owl Team Leader). Out of 200 students that applied I and 29 other students were hired. As an Owl Team Leader I worked with new students in providing them with a welcoming and positive atmosphere. During each new student orientation session I lead a group of about 15-20 students through different presentation and activities. At the end of orientation I made sure each one of my student was excited and had all the information they needed to know to start their college career. This position has taught me leadership, public speaking and team building skills.
During the 2013-2014 school year I revived the position for Owl Team Student Coordinator. As a student coordinator my job was to advertise the Owl Team employment opportunity throughout Temple University and different student groups. I also conduct three stages of interview, large group, small group and individual of over 200 applicants. At the end of the interviews I hired 30 orientation leaders for the upcoming summer. As s student coordinator I had the same responsibilities of an orientation leader, plus to supervise the students that I hired and resolve any issues.
Wegmans Food Market
Seafood Department
I started off at Wegmans Food Market, In Malvern Pennsylvania, in summer of 2009, as a cashier. When I was a cashier I interacted with several customer during my shift. This taught me how to provide incredible customer service and how to deal with upset customer in the proper way. During the spring of 2011 I was promoted to work in the Sea Food Department. During a typical work day I provide incredible customer service and also I handled, prepared, transported the sea food products; ensuring food and human safety practice Wegmans guidelines. In 2013 I was awarded the Wegmans scholarships with a few of my fellow employees.
