My Current Employment
Currently, I work for the Law Office of Norman Shabel. At the Law Office of Norman Shabel, I work as an administrative assistant and help Mr. Shabel (my grandfather) with a variety of tasks and projects within his sole proprietorship. My grandfather is 78 years old, but the way he works and the number of projects he deals with, he seems just as spry as me.
First, he handles legal cases. He works as a personal injury as well as a very accomplished class action attorney (see bottom for better understanding of class action attorney). My grandfather has won multimillion dollar cases dealing with consumer fraud, wage and hour and employment, and mass construction defect. For his legal issues, I perform legal research as well as create and fill out necessary paperwork to send to courts as well as doctors. I also occasionally have to deliver the forms directly to the courthouse.
my grandfather also works within the real estate world. He owns two billboards that stand one mile apart on route 38 in Mount Laurel, NJ. In late August, after successfully negotiating and purchasing land for him in close proximity to the billboards, my grandfather made me the project manager of the two billboards. I now handle the renting, negotiating, creation, installation, and maintenance for the two pieces of property. Mr. Shabel also owns a large piece of property in Orlando, Florida, which he is currently in negotiation to sell to a land developer.
Norman Shabel is also an author, playwright, and radio host. He has written five books and numerous amounts of plays. His biggest hit right now stands as his play, Marty’s Back In Town, which is about a Jewish family living in Brooklyn dealing with a myriad of different issues. His radio show acts as his newest project. He will be the host of the Norman Shabel Hour on WWDB AM 860 starting April 28th every Monday from 10 to 11 am. In this aspect of his work life I act as more of a marketing director. I discuss possible shows with theaters, call magazines and place ads, even design billboards. I also transformed all of his books into Kindle books and created a website so they could be sold online.
I didn’t just create a website for his books, I created a website for all aspects of his life. I created nshabel.com, which is the law firm’s website. I also created ebenezersentertainment.com, which is the entertainment (books, plays, radio) website. Finally, as stated previously, I created chataeupub.com, which is where one can purchase his books.
Working for my grandfather twice a week every week this school year has taught me a great deal. He is a great mentor and has taught me many things about the world we live in today.
