The term artificial intelligence was coined in 1956, but it is becoming more popular today due to the increasing data volume and improvements in computing power. Artificial intelligence enables machines to learn from historical experiences, adjust to new information and perform multiple tasks. Most AI examples that you hear about today – from chess-playing computers to self-driving cars – rely heavily on deep learning and natural language processing. Unlike what we saw in several Hollywood movies that AI robots are all over the world and threatening human lives, artificial intelligence is quite useful and helpful nowadays in retail, health care, manufacture, and every other industry.

“A hundred years ago electricity transformed countless industries; 20 years ago the internet did, too. Artificial intelligence is about to do the same. To take advantages, companies need to understand what AI can do and how it relates to their strategies”(Andrew Ng, 2016).

The first thing in AI is to understand its ability. Ideally, AI can is a fundamental technology that understand diverse business and work cross-functionally. It also brings innovation to different industry by providing the opportunity to create new products, for example, self-driving cars, Echo, and Siri. AI startups like SenseTime, Lemonade and Afiniti after raising hundreds of million dollars in investments led by Chinese and American companies have large potential to change various industries and departments. At the same time, it is changing our daily lives at the speed you cannot imagine.

Related to what I learned in Data Analytics, AI may upend manufacture industry in the future by using more efficient self-learning information systems. Adapting to new technologies, the urge to embrace new trends.  At the same time, fro information companies, by applying new information systems, Chinese companies like Alibaba and Tencent produces more profits in a quarter than the total profit of a year 10 years ago, creating AI labs for studying systems development(Will Knight, 2017). The new information systems includes better communication network, faster inputs and outputs, more user-friendly platform, and creative UX/UI design. I think now is the time to go all in on artificial intelligence and create a better future full without junk data and information waste.
