Introduction to Management Information Systems

Intro to MIS was the class that made me realize what direction I wanted my career to go. The class teaches students the value that technology provides to organizations of all industries. This course runs through a slew of systems companies can use to improve their efficiency, and how to best use them. These systems includes ERPs, CRMs, as well as the growing field of AI and Watson.

Data Science

Data Science teaches students about the growing importance of data in today’s world. It runs through the proper ways to collect it, format it, analyze it, and finally make prescriptive decisions based off of it. In addition, the class places a heavy emphasis on the proper way to visualize data so that any member of an organization can look at it and understand what is going on.

Data-Centric Application Development

Data-Centric App Development is the class that teaches MIS students the technical skill they’ll need to be able thrive in today’s computer-driven world. The class starts with HTML and CSS before adding onto that base with other coding languages such as PHP. These are skills students will use whether they choose to pursue a career in programming or systems analysis.

Data Analytics

Data Analytics focuses on how to use business databases by teaching students how to set them up and how to query them using SQL and R. This class provides the key skills needed to work with databases at a time where the skill is at its highest value.
