IT Intern

  • As the IT Intern at PRG, I held a variety of responsibilities that allowed me to learn and grow my career in the information technology industry. I was was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the help desk system, which provides technology support to over 200 employees all over the United States. From minor technology issues to large scale network overhauls, I was played a vital role as a team member at PRG Real Estate. The day to day operations included user administration using Active Directory, network performance and security monitoring, Print and File server management, as well as managing VPN Tunnels that go from the Home Office in Philadelphia, to all over the eastern sea board.

  • Over the course of the internship time period, I was able to participate in an entire network cut over from older firewall/VPN systems to a new, modern Cisco Meraki Environment. I was involved with planning, deployment and testing phases of this project. As well as working on this large project, I inventoried all of the IT equipment and with my Director’s approval, sorted the equipment to either keep for use in the environment or to be recycled at a local e-waste facility. I also used Yardi ERP, which is a database software designed for multifamily housing real estate companies to provide database administration support to our field offices as user information, unit availability, as well as financial information is constantly being updated during the day to day operation of the business.

  • I learned about Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, Print and File Servers, Subnetting, VPNs, and network security best practices. I also learned about the project management lifecycle. Being involved in a large scale project, I was able to see the start to finish and be extremely involved in every aspect of the Cisco Meraki deployment project. I also used my previous knowledge of google analytics to show the Marketing Manager which websites were not performing as well as others (for each property). Using tools within Google Analytics, I was able to track user movement across sites to figure out why users would stop at a certain page, either due to load time, poor performance, or glitches within the site.
