My major task was the data analysis project. While attempting to implement a new credit card application, management was interested in its effect on the applicant’s behavior. My job was to analyze a massive excel file. This one-hundred and sixty thousand row file contained information such as an identification number, which application they received, and if they chose to complete the application. I felt the optimal way to analyze this problem was to establish a control group with the regular application and test the other group who was given the more detailed application. I established pivot tables for both groups and, based on my findings, I concluded there were not any negative effects from the more detailed applications. The more detailed application did not make applicants any less willing to complete the application. This allowed management to receive a more detailed overview of the potential customer without fearing that the longer version may discourage any potential customers. Based on my findings, management planned on implementing the new application.
