Ballet School Tuition Comparison
In the spring and summer of 2018, I was given the task to research local ballet school tuition and compare it to the Pennsylvania Ballet by school coordinator Melissa Chasse. The goal was to help give the ballet a clearer view of what local schools are charging for similar classes, and use this information to help in their decision making when pricing tuition. The conclusions I came to will impact the tuition pricing of the 2018 fall classes and others going forward. While completing this project, I learned that there are many ways to look at a data set to draw conclusions, and that in order to do this, the data must first be normalized. I had to create coherence among the data collected from the schools because not every school offered their tuition at the same rate, with some using trimesters, others using classes per week, and some using hours per week. Normalizing this data and drawing conclusions from it helped me get a better view of local ballet schools’ pricing and what this means for the Pennsylvania Ballet.
