Big Brother Big Sister-Temple

In the Fall of 2012 I applied to be a mentor through Temple’s partnership with Big Brother Big Sister. After a year long application, interview, and assignment process I was finally assigned to my little sister in the Fall of 2013. We have visits at least once a week. During these visits I go to her school during lunch time and we have a private lunch. My lunch dates with my little are my favorite parts of my week and I try to go as often as possible. I grew up in inner city Boston and I know how important it is for young children to have a positive role model in their lives. I strive to be as best as I can for my little and cherish the fact that I am making an impact on her life. I encourage everyone to apply to be a big brother or big sister.

Sampan

Throughout my Sophmore and Junior year I was employed at Sampan, a modern Asian fusion restaurant in Center City Philadelphia. I worked 20-30 hours a week at this extremely high volume restaurant on top of being a full time student. Being able to support myself as a student has taught me to perfect my time management skills and has allowed me to demonstrate my hard work and determination. Working in the hospitality industry for so long has allowed me to see, first hand, the effectiveness of inspirational leadership and the importance of customer satisfaction. I believe that the experiences I have gained in the restaurant industry will allow me to be a better business woman.
