Career Objectives

My main career aspiration is that I want to eventually do something that will leave a positive and lasting legacy on the world. For me, money and power only matter as far as what I need to support my loved ones. I would much rather find a career path that allows me to use the skills I learn in college to better the lives of others. I believe that business needs to consider how their actions can help people’s lives outside of just the objective of making profits. One such company that comes to mind when I think of this is ROAR for Good, a company founded by Fox alum Yasmine Mustafa. The main goal of this company isn’t to make money but to use the power of industry to solve the problem of violence against women by designing safety jewelry. That is the kind of change that I want to make: Using the power of technology and business to solve the worlds’ problems.

For my future goals, I have a few things that I would really love to do. Firstly, I would like to begin a career in a field that would allow me to move around a company, working on a number of different projects and really getting to understand how the company as a whole works and how each aspect can be improved to run more cost-efficiently and generate more revenue. A field that I think really fits this avenue for me is a business analyst role, as business analysts work with information technology to analyze the different aspects of a business and maximize their potential. My second goal which can operate in tandem with the first, is to pursue and complete a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation as part of my Risk Management major. I believe that by completing the exams that come with this designation would really hone my understanding of the risks of business which would only serve to increase my usefulness as a business analyst by giving me a unique view of the risks of the company’s operations. My third goal would be to pursue a Masters degree, either in the field of Business Analytics (which would serve to further enhance my skill in that field) or in IT Auditing and Cyber Security (which would expand my range of skills and make me a more valuable employee). Once I firmly established my career, I would like to branch out and start my own company with an eye towards develop technology that help those with disabilities, things like easy to use and hard to break cell phones, which make the daily life of the disabled easier. I know it would take a lot of work to follow this path but I really believe that I have the dedication necessary to do it.
