Heightened Visions: The Dynamic World of Drone Photography
On February 5, 2019, I attended a webinar titled Heightened Visions: The Dynamic World of Drone Photography. The Temple University sponsored webinar was hosted by Professor Amy Lavin and led by Chase Guttman. Throughout the allotted time, Chase discussed the technicalities of drone photography and elaborated on specific topics by showcasing his own work. For example, the speaker discussed the three different types of release modes (single, continuous, bracketing) and how he uses them to capture high quality images. I also learned about how drone technology has opened new doors for photographers and videographers. With drones, we are able to see our environment from a perspective that was never before possible. Drone technologies not only benefit the arts, but have also transformed the way we approach digital mapping and security. This webinar is relevant to the current tech industry because I think it is important to realize how disruptive technologies are constantly altering the way we do things. My attraction to the MIS major stemmed from the idea that technology is ever-changing. I think drones are a perfect example of this reality.
