The End Of ERP

http://www.forbes.com/sites/ciocentral/2012/02/09/the-end-of-erp/

1. There have been many predictions about technology that were not quite correct in the past. For example, “I think there is a world market for maybe five computers” (Thomas Watson, chairman IBM, 1943). Could this article’s prediction be correct? Do you agree with the prediction that ERP’s days are numbered?

2. This article suggests that we are moving away from owning tangible goods and instead we are going towards becoming members of services. Are you one the consumers moving away from owning tangible goods and paying for services? If so, could you think of a service you are now paying for?

3. What are the big benefits that the ERP system has brought to businesses?  Are these benefits big enough to save ERP from coming to its end as the article suggests?
