Big Data knows you’re sick, tired and depressed

1. Have you ever researched medication or medical symptoms online?
2. Would you be concerned that your online medical search history (outside doctors office and pharmacy data) is being collected and sold? If so, why?
3. Do you think that this personal data should be regulated to who it is sold, and how it is used? For example: If someone who regularly searched for products related to being diabetic, they might be targeted to receive coupons for insulin needles or diabetic-safe foods. This seems like a practical/ethical use of this information. However, perhaps insurance companies could use the data to profile prospective customers and label them as “high risk.” This seems more like an invasion of privacy.
