Ice Hockey

Since I was very young I have loved the game of ice hockey. My dad taught me how to play hockey at a very young age. I eventually became the starting goalie on my high school’s ice hockey team a few years ago. During my junior year of high school our team won the championship. Not only have I played hockey since I was a kid, I have followed and loved the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia’s professional ice hockey team. I know all of the players from the last few years or so and watch majority of each seasons games. I am own a huge collection of Flyers memorabilia and clothes. Ice hockey means a lot to me as it brings my family together. My entire family are dedicated Flyers fans that barely ever miss a game. We watch and sometimes go to games together. My parents loved watching me play hockey throughout my amateur career.

Click HERE for a video of me playing goalie for my high school team, The Wissahickon Trojans. This video is a pump up video for our high school to come out and watch us play. Here is also a link to a website that I made for a CIS course about the Philadelphia Flyers I took at Temple University.

Boy Scouts

I joined the  Boy Scouts of America when I was 11 years old. My dad was a Boy Scout when he was a kid and he told me how much fun it was and that he used to camp a lot and build fires. This sounded fun to me so we looked for local Boy Scout troops in my area and I joined Troop 665 in Dresher, Pennsylvania. I went on tons of camping trips with Troop 665 and learned many life lessons and skills. The highlight of my scouting career was attending Philmont Scout Ranch, which is an 11 day backpacking trip in New Mexico. I attended Philmont twice, once as just a scout and the second time as a Crew Leader. The crew leader leads the entire crew of 14 boys and adult leaders during the 11 day journey. I advanced through the Boy Scout ranks starting off as a Tenderfoot Scout and finishing as a well respected Eagle Scout. Becoming an Eagle Scout was a long and difficult journey but now that I am one, I feel as if I have become a more well rounded and valued person. I had to lead a 3 month long Eagle Scout service project that taught me a lot about leadership and planning. For my project I led a group of my friends, family, and scouts to restore a library at my local synagogue and catalog each book. This was an ongoing project for me that I completed with great results. When I became an Eagle Scout, my parents were extremely proud  of my hard work and perseverance. Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout.
