MIS 3504 – Digital Design and Innovation – Final Project

Developing Digital Marketing Strategies Business Analyst Project

In my Digital Design and Innovation class, an upper level Management Information Systems class, I created a prototype application using Justinmind Prototyper for my group’s final project. After being appointed the role of Business Analysts, we were assigned a real business, Somerville Lumber, a lumber company who was looking to gain new innovative ideas to help strengthen their business. Our team was given the task of developing digital marketing strategies, which included implementing online marketing, integrating social media, and capturing and analyzing online data to improve performance. For our solution, we came up with an application called Lumber Cam, where Specialists (ex. Kitchen & Bath Design Specialist, Window & Door Specialist etc.) of Somerville Lumber, who sign off on completed projects, can take a pictures of the projects and send them to the IT/Marketing Director for approval. Once these photos are approved, they can be easily uploaded to social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pintrest. Overall Lumber Cam will create more of an online brand presence for Somerville Lumber through up-to-date social media.

From the start of this project I immediately took the role of the leader of our group. I frequently set up times for our group to collaborate and created the entire prototype in Justinmind Prototyper. I learned a lot from this project, especially how to be productive with assigned tasks and how to successfully lead a group. From my experience using Justinmind Prototyper, I learned how to efficiently prototype and think more creatively.
