Hello and Welcome!
Welcome to my E-Portfolio. My name is Alisa Islam and I am an upcoming December 2018 Management Information Systems major with a minor in Spanish at Temple University. Additionally, I am pursuing my Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) independently.
My ASA will enable me to use modeling and calculations to mitigate risks in all facets of the industry I hope to involve myself in. My MIS degree will allow me to take advantage of technology and provide me the tools that will enable me to extract and analyse data efficiently.
My diverse background, derived from growing up in a British International School in both Bangladesh and Thailand, has given me an insight into the disparities and socio-economic barriers that people are faced with. I aspire to work in an environment that will allow me to incorporate my Business analytical and technological skills with Public Policy. Upon graduation, I hope to find experience in the Consulting Industry or Exchange Markets.
My interests outside of the classroom consists of: Scuba Diving, Crossfit, Rugby, Martial Arts, Reading, Cooking, Playing Video Games, Writing and Volunteering. I hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver License, a Khan 4-Green Band in Muay Thai and a 1st Kyu Brown Belt in Wado-Ryu Karate. Currently I write for The Temple News and Freely Magazine, a multicultural media channel focusing on diversity and cultural uniqueness. I have also been the President for Habitat for Humanity Temple Chapter and have been on its executive board for the last three years.
