Summer Intern | May 2016 – Sep 2016

This work experience has been the biggest opportunity I had so far. I was working for Lincoln Financial Advisor’s registered representative division of Grossman Financial Planning Group. So I got to use, understand and familiarize myself with software, equipment and processes involved in such a big name firm but was not restricted about what I could do with regards to my MIS abilities; I had an open plate. As such, apart from better understanding the financial services industry, I also looked at processes and software used in the MIS perspective and I made several changes and recommendations. I was also involved in manual tasks as well as several projects that lead to changes in the use/management of certain processes in Grossman Financial. I have also written up a blog to keep up with what was happening during my work. Feel free to click here and find out what I did!

Accounting Bookkeeper | Sep 2013 – Nov 2013

I worked in the accounting division for these two co-joined stores; MSC Studios (now called D Studio) and Cheers. In this work experience, I was involved in a lot of manual work. I kept track of all transactions in the retail store and had the responsibility to ensure that starting & ending cash balances were accurate. I regularly provided consolidated Excel reports of transactions and cash balances to the supervisor towards the end of every shift. I was also given the opportunity to evaluate the quality of work of Tellers & Personal Bankers in several banks across the city and report the findings to the supervisor.

Finance & Journalism Intern | Feb 2013 – Apr 2013

I was presented the opportunity to work as an Intern for a Financial Magazine publishing company called Pioneers & Leaders (PNL) and I took it immediately. Little did I know that this experience would be so valuable. I was involved in several manual tasks in departments like IT, editing, writing, Finance & design. Highlights during this internship include the frequent use of Bloomberg systems to transfer and update financial information posted online, my contribution to an e-newsletter project called “Tradeable” and my implementation of iBooks Author to produce an e-book for the company’s online publications.
