Personal Interests and extra-curricular activities

Philadelphia EaglesFor most people my age, living the college life means having a very active lifestyle. I am constantly on the go and consistently busy with school work throughout each and every semester. I try to keep myself busy by getting involved at Temple and when I can, I leave a little room for  entertainment and relaxation. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games with friends, traveling, playing and watching competitive sports and occasionally reading for leisure.

Even though they haven’t yet disappeared, board games and puzzles are becoming less and less popular among the younger generation. I remember growing up I would see advertising on television for the newest board games in the market. Now it seems that there are never ads on television for board games and puzzles. Now even kids are starting to become more tech saavy through electronic gaming. There are millions of free games online and  through video games such as Playstation and Xbox. I am a big fan of electronic gaming. As a child, my brother and I would always compete on Sega Genesis, Nintendo and the original Playstation. Now till this day I still play him in sports games like Madden 25 and NBA 2k14 on our Playstation 3. Not only is video gaming a fun way to compete but some games can even get your brain exercising through the various puzzles. As far as I can remember up to this day, whenever I get together with friends whether its a weekday or weekend, we always are competing on Xbox or Playstation. I feel that I will be playing video games for the rest of my life and I have a feeling that I’ll find myself waiting in line to purchase the next videogame system coming out.

Traveling has always been one of my interests. I love seeing and experiencing new places and things. Also, its pretty neat to see what the outside world is like as opposed to mine. Traveling also gives me time to spend with those whom I love most…family. I will always remember my family trips to places like Canada and India. This past winter break, my father and I went to vacation out in Dubai, which is located in the United Arab Emirates. It was probably the most amazing experience of my life. As soon as I landed, my mouth dropped and eyes shot open at how luxurious life was there. Traveling will always be one of my favorite activities and it is definitely something I want to take up in the future.

Another big part of my life is sports. I have always loved watching and playing sports like football, basketball and baseball. I will never forget all the games of football, baseball and basketball played with friends and family. I have always tried to be active and sports have always been a great way to do it. Growing up, I played baseball and now that I’m older, I like to watch my favorite Philadelphia sports teams like the Eagles and Sixers on TV and by going to games. The motivation and perserverance shown in sports has always proved to be a creed that I try to live by and sports will always remain a part of my life.

Although it is not my number 1 interest, I always try to make time to read something. I recently purchased a subscription of ESPN, one of my favorite magazines and like to read every month’s issue for 15-20 before I go to bed. Not only that, but I recently acquired an app for the Wall street Journal on my smartphone. Although it doesn’t contain all of my favorite topics to read about, i feel it is very relevant. Not only does the Wall Street Journal keep me up to date with what is going on in our world, but I am studying in the Fox School of Business and I feel that it is important to know what is going on in the world you are studying about.
