Yoh – Digital Marketing Intern
From March to August of 2017, I worked as an intern in the Marketing Department of Yoh, a business unit of Day & Zimmermann, located at 1500 Spring Garden St. in Philadelphia.
The work I completed in my position was both challenging and varied. I began by primarily managing the company’s online presence, which included digital content, social media accounts and the corporate website. As I learned more about the company, the mission, and the industry, I became more deeply involved in the strategic direction of the marketing plan.
I began creating website pages and reworking existing pages to create a more cohesive and user-experience oriented design, using HTML/CSS and the company’s COS, HubSpot. I troubleshooted both design and funct ionality bugs across the website, allowing users to more easily access the information they were looking for while boosting conversions. I upgraded the website to leverage AMP to allow users to quickly access information on our site, while boosting search engine ranking.
In addition to increasing the usability and appearance of the site, I was later tasked with managing digital analytics. Using Google Analytics and HubSpot COS’s built-in analytics tools, I created regular reports. Using this data, I built presentations for upper management that included visuals to clearly identify trends in website traffic and conversions.
Throughout my internship, I was sitting in on meetings with management to brainstorm, discuss, plan, and evaluate marketing initiatives. I helped make decisions on which software systems to invest in, and helped with the implementation of several new initiatives. I believe my internship was a successful adventure of personal and professional growth and experience for myself, and I believe I had a hugely positive impact on the company during my time there.
