Community Service
- I started volunteering at 15 years old at the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, NJ. I was involved in Adoption Counseling for cats and dogs, and acted as a Veterinary Assistant Technician medicating the animals, screening incoming and outgoing animals, giving vaccines, etc.
- Totaling the hours after this great experience showed me there was over 1000 hours dedicated to this organization.
- From here I got involved with The Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.
- I started out working in the “Bird House” – a large house filled with caged birds of all sizes. I prepared food for baby birds and fed them with tweezers.
- I will never forget the day where they brought me into a barn and I saw several baby deer galloping around in circles. I was told it was time to feed them and was handed a bottle. I held the fawn in my lap and fed it with the bottle, and will never forget the squeal of happiness they were giving me as I fed them.
- My deep knowledge of all the animals in the refuge earned me a spot as Camp Counsellor for the camp–overseeing a group of 10 year olds on a daily basis in summer
