Information Security – Identity and Access Management Intern
- Assist with ongoing projects for the Identity and Access Management team within the Information Security department. Tasks typically revolved around managing employee access levels, remediating servers and applications for compliance reasons, building out metric spreadsheets, and creating/running PowerShell Scripts to grab user/server information.
- Some examples of projects I worked on include: HIPAA Remediation Efforts (helped remediate applications that had access to PHI data to adhere to HIPAA compliance); HIPAA Server Remediation Efforts (helped remediate servers that had access to PHI data to adhere to HIPAA compliance); Information Security Department Video (helped film and create department video that was presented to multiple executives at the company).
- Firstly, I learned a lot about how Information Security reaches far beyond just protecting against major data breaches. With strict compliance standards and access to PHI data, InfoSec efforts grow exponentially. Secondly, I used the coding experience learned in MIS2402 greatly. While I only used JavaScript a couple of times, the experience I gained learning basic syntax helped when I had to learn and use PowerShell.
