Involvement, Activities, and Interests
My Activities On-Campus:
At Temple, I’m involved in a number of professional, academic, and social activities.
Gamma Iota Sigma: In the fall of 2012, I became a member of the Sigma Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, a professional organization within the Fox School of Business. Gamma strives to encourage, establish, and enhance the professionalism of students in Temple’s Risk Management, Healthcare Risk Management, and Actuarial Science programs. The organization arranges internship opportunities, professional development workshops, networking opportunities with insurance industry professionals, and community service events.
Phi Sigma Pi Co-Educational National Honors Fraternity:
I became a brother of Phi Sigma Pi’s Alpha Lambda Chapter in the fall of 2011. The fraternity consists of 130+ collegiate chapters and 5,000+ brothers across the United States. Temple’s chapter, Alpha Lambda, consists of 70 brothers who participate in a number of scholarship, social, and service events. Since our organization focuses on education, we continuously raise funds and volunteer for our national philanthropy Teach for America. I have served as the Teach for America Committee Head and on the organization’s executive board as Brother-At-Large. Phi Sigma Pi has allowed me to meet a diverse group of students on campus as well as close friends.
HEART Wellness Center: In August of 2012, I was trained as a HEART Peer Educator. HEART designs and promotes initiatives for Temple university students and professional staff dealing with health information as well as free campus resources and prevention services. To help students find health resources and services, HEART Peer Educators are trained in health topics related to body image, sexual health, consoling services, physical and mental health, safety, as well as drug and alcohol abuse. In order to create a university culture that provides comprehensive wellness information, Peer Educators assist in coordinating awareness events for 24,000+ students.

My Interests Outside of School:
Outside of academia, my hobbies include gluten-free dining, cooking and baking, and playing with my two dogs! Since I’m gluten-intolerant, I love the challenge of finding restaurants that feature delicious gluten-free dishes. Luckily, gluten-free diets are becoming popular so more restaurants feature options. I have always loved cooking and baking, and enjoy changing recipes to become gluten-free and sometimes vegan! Below is a picture of my two vizsla, Maya and Dolly. In my household we are known as the three redheads 🙂
