Website Development Intern at Desi Dance Network Inc.
Desi Dance Network was officially founded in 2014 to foster a community amongst artists engaged in competitive South Asian dance. Since the inception of the organization, Desi Dance Network has grown to include not only dancers, but all performance artists from multiple genres of South Asian performance arts (including DJs, producers, filmmakers, etc.). Desi Dance Network was founded on the principle of community building and re-empowering the South Asian community by reconnecting multigenerational South Asian dancers to their roots. Desi Dance Network co-hosts and sponsors various national events ranging from dance competitions to conventions and forums.
In my 7-week internship with Desi Dance Network I developed them a website for one of their ventures called Legends. This was a huge project for them because it was going to be a website that would be having thousands of users access it during the Dance Season. This website would have to promote 18 of the linked partner competitions it managed in locations like Boston, Philadelphia, San Diego, Dallas, and Chicago. I worked on developing a complex website that would include a portal for each dance team in the circuit, a portal for all partner competitions, and an ELO point system tracking page. This ELO tracking page needed to be updated constantly throughout the period of the dance season so I am still assisting them in managing the ELO tracker.
