Career Objectives
I really enjoy working with people and especially trying to help people solve any problems they might have. I’ve worked hard to develop strong problem solving and analytical skills and aspire to put these skills to use in a consulting position. As a finance major I am looking to gain experience doing financial consulting for individuals and/or businesses. Eventually I would like to gravitate towards the field of management consulting and take part in a more holistic approach to assessing and solving problems for businesses, with hopes to gain knowledge and experience in many different components of business needs such as marketing solutions, tax compliance issues, human resource management, and more. With the ever growing field of technology and its role in today’s world, developing key technology solutions for implementation and best use practices will be a huge factor in helping businesses meet their needs.
As I work to reach my career goals, I have participated in several events to help hone my analytical and problem solving skills. Last fall in October 2012 I participated in PwC’s xTreme Games: xTax Case Competition. The competition consisted of a dozen teams from Temple University, each faced with a hypothetical scenario involving a company’s decision to relocate to either of two fictional countries or to stay in the US. Our group’s challenge was to use what little information we were given on each country to analyze their economic stability, political environment, tax laws and issues, and risk factor, and thus determine which option was best for the company. We then developed a strategy for how and when to relocate and a breakdown of pros, cons, and risks. Each team presented in from of a board of PwC professionals and was judged on several criteria. Out of all of Temple’s teams, our team came in first place.
