Opportunity Knocks: Strengthen Your Personal Brand
For Thursday, April 17, 2025, I attended the Opportunity Knocks: Strengthen Your Personal Brand, which was sponsored by the Main Line Chamber of Commerce. It occured from 4:30 – 6 p.m. over Zoom on that Thursday. During my time there, I learned about the multitude of ways to build your personal brand as a student either trying to get an internship over the summer or as a graduate preparing to get a full-time job after graduation. The first part of the session was dedicate towards the panelists (Joseph Ferenchiak from Vanguard, Jennifer Haydt from AmeriHealth, and Casey Thierry from Lincoln Financial) talking to student about ways to develop your personal brand while you are in college, ways to develop your brand while you are in your role, and ways to find the company that aligns with your goals and strengths. The second part of the session was dedicated to going to break out rooms and discussing additional ways on how to develop your personal brand and questions relating to that fact. For my break out room, the leader of the session was Joseph Ferenchiak. During my time in the session, I was able to ask questions about trying to switch from one industry from another and on further ways to stand out against other candidates in a job interview process. From the entire session, I was able to learn how to transition from the public sector to the private sector, important questions that should be asked to employers from job candidates, and how to develop yourself while in the starting stages of your position. In terms of relations to my career goals, I was able to learn how to develop skills and methods in order to find the perfect position that would align with my goals and how to develop a persona that would navigate me towards the perfect career path.
