WLSP: Product Management in AI
This event was sponsored by Women in Localization and Smartling Webinars to talk about how AI could be used in the workplace. I attended the webinar as a viewer and spent my time learning about the different uses of artificial intelligence in the workplace. They talked about the Pros and Cons of using AI, some of the Pros being that it is able to increase reliability and predictability, process upgrades to benefit users, and quality of work improvements. Some Cons include ethical concerns, bias, and privacy issues regarding the usage of AI. It could also be the reason many workers lose their jobs because it could be used in replacement of people. I participated in the webinar by asking a question about how one would evaluate the quality and outcome of deciding the use AI technology and the answer was to run a trial period with a certain group of the company\’s security team to assess the quality of the tool. AI is something that is currently being researched and taught to us in classes and how it is new technology that we need to beware of as we start our careers in the midst of it. It was helpful to learn about the complexity of this tool during the beginning of the era as we watch it grow while we enter the workforce. I really enjoyed my experience of tuning into the webinar and would love to attend more about this blooming topic.
