Use these questions to help you prepare for assessments or exams. Note that these questions are not specifically the ones that will be on either the assessment or exam; the goal of answering these is for you to go back into the readings and gain a deeper understanding.

  1. The process of data analytics includes Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive analytics. Give a short description of each. How are they different?
  2. What is a data analyst? How do businesses effectively use data analysts?
  3. What does it mean to analyze the IoT? How can businesses use this to their advantage?
  4. Structured Query Language is used to work with large data sets. What is it exactly, and why do businesses choose to use it?
  5. What are the 3 most common SQL terms, and what do they do?
  6. Why do we need to anonymize data? What is the relationship between PII and anonymous data?
  7. What do good data visualizations do? How would an audience affect how you design a data visualization?
  8. Understand the 4 parts of the Database Hierarchy. What are they each made up of?
  9. Two basic parts of not just SQL, but also many programming languages, are queries and syntax. Can you define these two?
