Junior Business Analyst at Continuing Education (Part-Time)
Starting on September 1st I began my 15-week internship at Continuing Education System (CE System). There I began work consulting with programs and colleges such as the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the College of Public Health-Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning program (WELL), and Temple University Municipal Police Academy. I found this internship through AIS where our president emailed members about a Junior BA position.
During my time there I conducted meetings under my supervisor where I gave demos of Destiny One (our new system by Destiny Solutions to be implemented by Temple University) and reviewed our Go-Live checklist to make sure the specific program is ready to continue forward in implementing their program in Destiny One. My time outside of these meeting consisted of mocking up programs courses and sections on our test site such as my current work for the WELL program, creating certificates and bundles for centers such as SBDC, and creating applications for facilities such as Police Academy.
Other work included supervising and note taking for our Phase 2.3 Implementation training that occurs twice a week. During these Web-ex meetings we train applicants from programs similar to those mentioned above on how Destiny One is used so they gain an idea on how the system can be used to match their needs. This helps us during our meetings as we review how we can incorporate what they offer into the system and specific requirements the system must have/support for them.
I have learned a great deal during this internship. Meeting with programs and going over how we can incorporate their program into our system has been a unique experience. It has been my first experience with consulting and demoing for businesses and has taught me that it is never easy to incorporate everything a program needs and there are times where it is not possible and you must come to terms on what you can deliver. I also learned a lot about designing landing pages and interest pages which let me put my HTML and coding skills to use.
I have learned a great deal from CE System and plan to learn more as i work with them through my Spring semester as well.
