Great Resignation & Quiet Quitting

  1. Name of sponsoring organization
    1. ISACA
  2. Details of the activity (e.g., where, when)
    1. Online Webinar, December 8th
  3. What you learned
    1. From this webinar, I learned that The Great Resignation refers to the trend of workers leaving their jobs in large numbers due to various reasons such as retirement, work-life balance, reluctance to return to in-person jobs, and the desire to start their own businesses. The pandemic has sped up this trend, as many employees were dissatisfied with their organization’s response to the pandemic and were looking for a better work-life balance. Improper work-life balance, impolite behavior of managers, stagnation in career growth, poor working conditions, and inadequate pay and benefits are some of the reasons why employees quit their jobs. Furthermore, the concept of “quiet quitting” has emerged where employees disengage, decrease productivity, and avoid teamwork, without formally quitting their jobs.

  4. How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals
    1. Learning about the topic of employee engagement, retention, and productivity is crucial for any career, and I would say that technology plays a crucial role in this. When it comes to the Great Resignation, I could help organizations to develop systems and processes that improve work-life balance, career growth, and working conditions for employees in my future roles. This can include the use of technology to automate repetitive tasks, provide flexible work arrangements, and improve communication and collaboration among team members. Additionally, with the increasing number of remote workers, cybersecurity and data security become even more important. With the right information systems in place, I can help organizations protect themselves from cyber threats and ensure that their sensitive data remains secure.
