Employed: Fall 2014 – Present
Research Assistant

I have been assisting Dr. Munir Mandviwalla with the creation of the second edition of the IS Job Index. We are still working on the final aggregation, but I assisted with a variety of tasks including: data management, survey creation, communication with participants, report creation, and data analysis.

Early on, I reviewed the previous edition of the IS Job Index and looked at ways to improve the second round of data-gathering through testing the quality of the survey. I also found ways to make the presentation of the data on our online site. When we started communicating with schools, I updated and tracked school data (e.g. chair information, involvement). I encouraged school representatives to reach out to students and distributed gift cards to survey participants. I also helped to transform this data into 60 custom reports for the schools involved in the research. Last but not least, I am currently crunching data, identifying trends, and creating visualizations for use in the report and presentations.

The IS Job Index asks Information Systems students across the country about job information. It looks at demographics, student involvement, knowledge, and recruitment processes as well as job offers, salaries, and satisfaction. By comparing these metrics, we are able to see what successful students do to get jobs as well as what drives student decisions. We can see employment data relating to IS careers. The results can be used for educational, corporate, and government decision-making.
