Personal Branding
Name of sponsoring organization
BlackStone LaunchPad
Details of the activity (e.g., where, when)
The event was held in the BlackStone LaunchPad, Howard Gittis Student Center Lower Level, on November 1st, 4-5 PM. It was my first time in the office.
What you learned
The presentation discussed a lot of important aspects of personal branding. The most important aspect of the event was establishing the difference between the words that which I use to describe myself and the words used to describe me. I need to talk to the people closest to me to see which positive attributes are easiest to tell from a first impression with me and really sell those. Following that, we discussed the power of a blog, portfolio, or other online media of personal branding to sell yourself and your company better.
How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals
My education background is diverse and I have a lot of room to pivot. Learning how to better market my personal brand will make it easier to show employers I have a skill set that will lend itself well to whatever may be needed. This then gave me the idea to create my own website and blog top add to my portfolio and sharpen my skills in web development.
