Personal Interests
In my free time, one of my favorite things to do is music. In the past two years I’ve picked up the acoustic guitar. A year and a half ago I walked into a music store and picked up the guitar of my dreams — The Taylor 114 Grand Auditorium acoustic electric. After hearing its full, rich sound and feeling the strings under my fingers, I knew I had to get it. I saved up money from my part time jobs and got an incredible deal on it online — almost a 50% discount! I consider my guitar my most prized possession, and although it was a large expense it has brought me more than a millionfold in happiness — one of the best investments I’ve made.
I really enjoy singing and playing on my own, but sometimes I perform at open mic nights in some cafe’s near my house and around Philadelphia. Last semester, I garnered up the courage and accomplished something I’ve always dreamed of doing. Recently, I’ve been busking (street performing) on Walnut Street and in Rittenhouse Square. It’s a great way to practice performing… and to earn some extra cash for textbooks and rent!
Aside from music, I really enjoy the outdoors and being active when I can find time. I love hiking, playing tennis, and swimming in my free time. During my experience studying abroad in Japan, I climbed three mountains. In the future, I hope to travel the world and see what awesome nature different parts of the world hold.
