Internship and Work Experience

Temple Ambler Sign
This January, I was accepted as a student computer lab consultant at Temple Ambler and Fort Washington campuses. My responsibilities include assisting students, faculty, and staff in resolving software and hardware problems, overseeing hardware maintenance and upkeep, scheduling room reservations and administering laptop and tablet rentals. At Fort Washington, I mainly work with faculty who have complications that arise during classes. This has tested my problem solving ability under pressure and in front of an audience of students, consequently increasing my confidence in my own knowledge of computer software and hardware. At Ambler, I coordinate with other student lab consultants to provide quality assistance to our lab users. Collaborating with other consultants has given me the opportunity to learn and grow from the similar experiences they face. Furthermore, this has awarded me the chance to work as a team to respond to technological inquiries that require multiple minds working at once. I hope to continue working at Temple Ambler and Fort Washington for the remainder of my time as an undergraduate student.

Skate Jawn is a Philadelphia based magazine that provides skateboarding related media via a bi-monthly magazine, online website and social media sites: Facebook and Instagram. Its goal is to provide quality content to skateboarders worldwide, focusing on the lifestyle of urban skateboarders and their local skate communities.

Through my experiences as a digital marketing and social media intern with Skate Jawn over the past year, I have become more knowledgeable about social media promotion, WordPress maintenance, media content development, and web analytics. My duties include maintaining the flow of posts to the Skate Jawn WordPress based website with archived and new content. Some of these posts require me to create media content using Photoshop, edit images and create graphics interchange formatted animations (GIFs). I have also been exposed to Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Additionally, I have become familiar with the WordPress HTML text editor as a result of diagnosing problems occurring on the site, such as GIF malfunctions, poor quality in images, improper format of posts, etc.

As an intern I track and analyze website traffic in order to recognize trends in the habits of our website visitors and to obtain information about visitor demographics. Using Google Analytics data, I have improved our target market definition and have segmented this market to better understand our website viewers. I am still currently working at Skate Jawn and hope to continue to expand my knowledge of IT and marketing to increase their popularity online and in print.
