Software Developer Intern
Over the 2024 summer, I interned for Edukai, a start-up tech services company in Rome, Italy while studying abroad at the Temple Rome Campus. My role was a software developer intern, in which I was tasked with creating a basic foundation for a 3D modeling software. Building this software required learning Python, OpenStreet Map, Google Earth, and Dust3r. I had to utilize APIs to connect each of these software and design a working prototype that will generate a 3D model of a mapped location based on coordinates. This was by far the best professional experience I have ever had. Working abroad was a great chance to experience the international market and working culture of European countries. My work was also highly hands-on, which provided me with an efficient method of learning a more serious role, with the ability to figure out errors on my own but also efficiently getting help when it was needed. Working with a start-up company was also a wonderful experience; I learned a lot about how a company gets its roots and acclimates to the current global and local markets and industries. I really enjoyed the close connections between workers in this type of environment, with a high efficiency of cooperation and receiving quick solutions to any questions or concerns regarding our work. Overall, this experience gave me great insight into the professional world and allowed me to gain experience and knowledge that will forever benefit me in my career and my personal life.
