The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape
This course is sponsored by Temple University and was created by Marc Menninger. This Cybersecurity Threat course gave a simple, yet in-depth description of the cyber threats that we face in today’s landscape and how to identify and mitigate these threats. Some key takeaways I received from this course was the instruction of how Botnet and DDoS attacks are carried out, as well as protecting against them using Content Distribution Networks (CDNs) and installing anti-malware firewalls and services. I also learned key information about how AI is being used to carry out a larger number of attacks using deepfake voices and enhanced writing styles, making them harder to detect and much more common. Some of the best ways to protect against AI cyber attacks involve using web-filtering to block out potentially malicious websites and conducting regular security awareness training. This course was very insightful, providing the perfect amount of information needed to develop a basic understanding of the cyber threats we face today, how these threats continue to evolve, and the best measures we can take to prevent them from successfully corrupting our information systems.
