AIS Technical Development track

This track in AIS is completely about technology. We ended up learning a lot about things we will never be able to learn inside the classroom. The best part about this is that we can go to the Saturday workshops where we actually work with the technology that the speaker was talking about. Being able to work with the technology helps us create a more diverse set of skills that we will be able to use later in our careers. I learned other languages such as python, which we do not learn in the MIS classroom and it is cool to see how I can see the differences and similarities of the two different languages.

MIS 2502 Data Analytics Challenge

This challenge is where a company gives us a huge set of data and we need to make it something meaningful. We would filter out the unneeded data and focus on the important ones. By doing this we were able to create a story with valuable information for the company that will be useful for them. We learned how to interpret a data set and how to work with it. I also learned that the visualization is also very important because by having great visuals that back up your data it becomes easier to interpret and use for the company.

Fall IT career fair

This was my first career fair that I went to at my time at Fox. I think that it was a great opportunity to meet prospective employers and just grow my connections. By coming here I was able to find out that interviews aren’t a one way asking questions, but you realize it is a conversations where you both talk to find out more about each other. I learned that studying up on the company is very important because it shows that you have great interest in that company compared to the other ones because of the research done on the company. I just thought overall it was a great experience and helped me develop into a more professional individual.
