Experience

Education

I’ve benefited from a varied and diverse educational experience. In 2005, I matriculated to the Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD, as a sophomore in the Illustration program. In the spring of 2006, I applied and was accepted to participate in MICA’s “Mobility Program”, an exchange program jointly operated between MICA and Osaka University of Arts in Osaka (OUA), Japan. I spent the calendar year from August 2006 to August 2007 as an OUA student in the Design Department.

I re-assessed my personal and professional goals upon returning to the US, and ultimately decided to switch my educational path. In 2011, I matriculated to Temple’s Fox School of Business from Community College of Philadelphia, and enrolled in the Management Information Systems (MIS) program. I expect to graduate in 2015 with a B.B.A. in MIS.

Study Abroad

Living and studying in Japan created within me an enduring desire for meaningful interaction with people in other parts of the world. The daily opportunities to communicate in Japanese with native speakers, and to work within a culture different from my own were exciting and instructive. The experience challenged me in ways that were unexpected, and not always easily met. But in the end, the experience was more than worthwhile. I made many good friends with whom I am still close today. I look upon that year as one of the most important and enjoyable of my life.

Work and Future Aspirations

Through attending the lectures of professors in the MIS department and those of industry professionals, and researching trends happening in the world of MIS I am continually refining  my professional focus.  I am keenly interested in pursuing a career in the Cyber Security industry as a cyber security projects manager. As markets globalize and new states emerge as major world powers, the importance of protecting critical systems and information from theft and attack increases dramatically. Corporations and governments at all levels must make the security of their information and infrastructure a top priority. I would very much like to play a role in this process.
