FedEx Latin America Customer Satisfaction Analytics Challenge – First Place

I got the opportunity to participate in the AIS Student Chapter Leadership Conference, hosted by Florida International University from March 29-April 1 in Miami, Florida, as a representative of Temple AIS. My teammates Quinten Powers, Abbey Helterbran, Nicholas Bortz, and I participated in the finals of the FedEx Latin America Customer Satisfaction Analytics Challenge and won first place! As part of the challenge, my group used Excel to clean and analyze a dataset provided by FedEx Latin America and create visualizations in Tableau. We used the cleaned data and visualizations to draw conclusions and provide FedEx Latin America recommendations to improve customer satisfaction. We also performed multiple levels of word frequency analysis in Python, web scraped the FedEx Latin America Twitter, and ran a sentiment analysis on 1000 of their tweets to gain more insights. For the initial submission, we wrote a 10-page paper and recorded a 10-minute video detailing the analysis process, our findings, and our recommendations. In the finals in Miami, we presented our case to a panel of judges, one of which was from FedEx Latin America.

Working on this case with my team helped me improve my Python, Excel, and Tableau skills and expanded my knowledge of data cleaning and analysis. I was able to apply tools and skills I learned in MIS0855: Data Science, MIS2502: Data and Analytics, and MIS3580: Special Topics – Intro to Programming and Data Analytics with Python. This experience was especially valuable to me because I am considering pursuing a career in data analytics after I graduate.
