Terracycle
In summer 2013, I had the opportunity to intern for Terracycle: a small business whose goal is to eliminate the idea of waste. Located in Trenton New Jersey, this extremely environmentally friendly company makes all consumer products from either pre-consumer or post-consumer waste by either upcycling or recycling.
During my tenure as a Community Outreach/Proactive Marketing Intern, my team and I were responsible for developing a pilot program that helped promote the use of shipping waste on pallets. With the use of the pallet, customers would be able to make less shipments, saving them money and helping Terracycle reduce their carbon footprint. As a team, we targeted Terracycle’s top 100 collectors through e-mail, cold calls and promotional videos.
By the end of the summer, we had many top collectors make the change from traditional shipping to our pallet shipment method. The pilot program was deemed a success, and is now a method for Terracycle collectors to use when shipping their waste materials.Take a look at the information below to learn more about my time at Terracycle:
